HOW TO LEAVE A CHILD LOVE TO READ?

From parents you can sometimes hear phrases: “My son does not like to read,” “My daughter has to force her to sit at a book.” Many mothers and fathers are struggling, trying to instill a child with a love of reading. In fact, you need to learn this, like swimming or cycling. The sooner you start, the better it will come out. You also need to distinguish between reading ability and love of reading. The first is a technical skill, the second is an interest in internal content.

The best way to instill a love of reading is to combine the efforts of parents and teachers. The school may hold a contest “Who will read more books.” Or arrange an exchange of books between classmates. Another good option is to organize extracurricular reading lessons in honor of your favorite writer. They can tell interesting facts from his life and read excerpts from works. And then share your impressions.

As for parents, from childhood they should tell children how important it is to read. Let the child from childhood see a mom and dad with a book. You need to read fairy tales and fairy tales to the baby before going to bed. Let him become accustomed to the idea that a story or novel drags him into other worlds, opens doors to magical spaces, gives adventures and travels, helps in a difficult situation, gives advice and becomes a true friend. All this a child must understand in childhood. The older he gets, the more difficult it is to accustom him to this thought.

You also need to tell the baby that the more he reads, the more it develops. Explain to him that works of art and popular science form a fantasy, develop thinking, and teach you to write competently. Reading books is the key to a successful future person.

When a child has grown up, family readings can be arranged. First, mother reads to her son or daughter, and then vice versa. Start with short tales and short stories. Or from one chapter. The older the child, the greater the amount he can master.

Let your child choose the literature. No need to indicate: “Today we read Kira Bulycheva.” If the kid wants “The Adventures of Dunno”, then read them. Let him learn to make choices and be independent. If you listen to his opinion, this will give him confidence and the next time he will ask you to read with him.

Of great importance is the love of parents themselves to read. If the baby sees that the book is in the hands of mom or dad – this is not window dressing, that is, there is more chance that he will love to read. Parents are an example for children. The latter feel the lie very subtly, so there is no need to say that reading is fine if you yourself do not believe it.

But in no case do you have to force the child to read. This should not be a punishment. Otherwise, reading will only cause hostility, not sympathy. Better to do the opposite. Let reading be a reward. Say: “You will clean your room, you will be able to read“ The Wizard of the Emerald City ”.

Given all these tips, your child will surely love to read, will be interested in literature and, in the end, will become a successful person with a vibrant life.
