GLEN DOMAN’S TECHNIQUE
One of the main ideas of G. Doman’s program is based on maximizing the involvement of the children’s brain. Indeed, up to 6 years, the child’s brain is actively growing and developing, allowing him to absorb a large amount of new information. Doman conducted various studies that confirmed the development of the children’s brain with its active work. The well-thought-out method of Doman allows parents to contribute to the active development of their child, using proven principles.
WHO IS GLEN DOMAN?
Glen Doman is a popular American scientist, better known as the author of one of the most sought-after programs aimed at the early development of children. Doman is a neurosurgeon from Philadelphia. After World War II, the scientist began work on his unique theory.
With the support of colleagues, Glen began an active work aimed at working with children who noted disorders of the nervous system and brain damage. Such works were very successful, because in 1955, the scientist opened his own Institute for the Development of Human Potential.
The future technique of Glenn Doman was based on the fact that the doctor tried to stimulate the reserve cells of the brain using various external stimuli. We are talking about those cells that were not affected by a serious illness. This allowed the scientist to get quite interesting and important conclusions: during the active stimulation of one of the senses, there is a high probability of achieving the desired sharp increase in brain activity.
Especially for children, unique programs were developed, due to which the kids had the opportunity to learn reading, learning to count correctly.
PRINCIPLES OF METHODOLOGY
The development technique of Doman is based on certain principles:
Begin your child’s development as early as possible. Glen is sure that the decisive stage in the development of the baby begins immediately after his birth and lasts up to 6 years. During this period, parents should try to lay in their own child basic knowledge and all necessary skills. In the future, they will need to be actively developed.
Timing. All home exercises should be done when the baby feels rested and full. It is important to build each lesson exclusively on positive emotions. The game form promotes improved assimilation of new information.
Respect for the child. In the family, you need to create a trusting relationship with your child, where he will feel parental support. It is necessary to treat the child as an adult: it is not recommended to distort the names of objects or have fun with the baby.

Need to stop on time. All classes should end before the child feels tired. Indeed, from the first lessons in children, an attitude toward learning is formed, therefore it is important to create a positive attitude.
Task planning. The technique will bring the desired results if each lesson is systematic and consistent. Parents should independently study all the material and correctly plan each next lesson.
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT BY THE DOMAN METHOD
Doman, whose early development technique is known throughout the world, has been actively working on the physical development of babies. The scientist concluded that parents should provide the opportunity for their baby to move from the first days of their life. Thanks to such exercises, already in the first month the baby can easily overcome the distance of up to 1 m every day.
After all, children whose parents swaddled from the very first days of their appearance are more apathetic. They cannot do what they want. This negatively affects their psychological development, which may manifest closer to adolescence.
According to the early development system, the scientist recommends that parents perform various gymnastic exercises for babies. However, special attention should be paid to the creeping reflex, which contributes to the active development and growth of the lower parts of the brain. To do this, from birth, the baby is placed in a special track for crawling.
HOW TO LEARN TO READ BY DOMAN’S METHOD
So that the child can learn reading at an early age, Doman suggests that parents, along with their child, go through 5 important steps:
Single words. The first step is to use only 15 words. After studying these words, you can proceed to further replenish the vocabulary.
Collocations. This is an intermediate step between reading single words and whole sentences. To do this, parents must make separate combinations of those words that are already familiar to the child.
